The Vukani Trust was established in 2004 to support the development of opportunities for marginalized communities in the Southern Cape. The Trust envisions a robust environment that harnesses the commitment of all stakeholders from community groups through schools to private business Developing effective relationships is central to the Trust's ethos, with the flagship relationship that with Vukani Wines which donates R12 per box of wine sold to the Trust. Furthermore the Trust works with a wide network of local, national and international partners to create projects that will improve and promote sustainable livelihoods and capacity building with the Southern Cape. Vukani Wines and Trust aims to build partnerships with strategic partners that will leverage the market advantages and positions to promote the marketing of wines to enhance the unique selling points of black empowerment and Fair Trade to ensure that that mark-ups on produce flow more vigorously to the producers and their families. Through the establishment of the Vukani Trust all stakeholders have created a distribution network that will ensure sustainability and empower communities. Through a generous allocation of the sales price communities are able to move toward self sufficiency and independence. The Trust aims to expand the support and assist all farmers realize the extensive opportunities around Fair Trade. This will be achieved through innovative funding and finance structures that will meet the requirements of capacity building and other community based activities.
